Saturday we painted the ceiling in the living room, hall and bath. Tim was able to help today since he was off work. He used an extension pole and got the majority of it. Tanner finished up in the bath and hall and I trimmed around the walls. I am SOOOO happy to be done with the ceiling in these areas-especially the living room. We still will have a few ceilings to paint after all the patch work is done, but it will be a breeze compared to the living room.
The ceiling fan is remote control and would be rather expensive to replace so I spray painted it. I had planned to take it down and paint it in the garage, but figured it would be easier to paint it in place since we were going to paint the ceiling anyway. I’ll wait to put new globes and blades back on until the messy part is over.
Patrick removed the old island and began the plumbing for the new island. There is quite a lot of technical thought that goes into the plumbing. This is what the new vent system for the plumbing looks like.
Looks rather unusual to me. Patrick called my dad, a licensed plumber in Illinois, to make sure everything is done right. It is quite a complex system.
Chad does wonders with the electrical although he did have a little mishap. He sliced his finger pretty badly and we paid a visit to the minor emergency clinic for 7 stitches. It was something to do with a drill and electric box. I’m not quite sure how it all happened but he was back to work as soon as we were home. I’m glad he is all right and I am really glad he came to help. We wouldn’t be as far along without him.
My brother, John, helped out again. He and my nephew, Izaac, framed out under the new addition and put sheet rock around the perimeter. Insulation will be added to keep the addition nice and warm.
The majority of the sheet rock is up and patched in. It is looking really amazing. I can’t believe how far we’ve come in 6 days.
